LUMIstar OPTIMA Microplate Luminometer

The LUMIstar OPTIMA is a luminescence microplate reader that is designed for the widest possible range of applications based on luminescence modes of detection:

• Cell-based assays , e.g. cytotoxicity and proliferation, intracellular Ca2+ with aequorin

BMG LABTECH's Digital Photon Integration (DPI) technology and programmable gain control give the LUMIstar OPTIMA the best sensitivity, with an extended linear dynamic range. By incorporating on-board reagent injectors that measure at the point of injection, flash kinetic reactions can be measured in as little as 20 microsecond steps. The faster transport system allows 96-well plates to be read in as little as 50 measurements per second.

Additional outstanding features:
The LUMIstar OPTIMA comes with incubation, including temperature-regulated heating plates above and below the entire plate movement area to provide uniform incubation up to 45°C or even up to 60°C. A gas vent connection can be added, offering a tremendous advantage for assays where special or inert gas is needed when working with atmospheric gas sensitive samples. Up to two on-board reagent injectors can be added, both simultaneously accessing the measurement position and providing unlimited possibilities for fast kinetic assays. The automatic gain calculation provides the optimum dynamic range for each assay.

Upgradeable to FLUOstar OPTIMA or POLARstar OPTIMA
Due to the modular concept of the LUMIstar OPTIMA, whenever the need for fluorescence or absorbance based experiments arrive, the LUMIstar OPTIMA can be upgraded to a FLUOstar OPTIMA. It can also be upgraded to a POLARstar OPTIMA to include fluorescence polarization and Simultaneous Dual Emission Detection.

Control and MARS Data Evaluation Software
For first time users, the LUMIstar OPTIMA Control Software offers an easy to use Quick start feature. But for advanced users, it offers flexible definition of microplate layouts, filter selection, interval and injection times, measurement and shaking parameters. During the measurement, it is possible to observe the data with the Real Time Graphics feature. While the Standard Curve Wizard creates an easy step-by-step calculation of a standard curve and the Template Manager is an excellent tool for building complex data processing protocols. With MARS, all data analysis is simply done with one click of the mouse.
