Medical institutions such as hospitals and healthcare systems are partnering with Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs) to remain at the forefront of healthcare and patients needs. Given that (ACOs) consist of healthcare professionals who voluntarily provide coordinated quality care to Medicare patients in nearly 80% of US hospitals, it is imperative for pharmaceutical, medical device and biotech executives to gain a better understanding of an ACO’s structure, as well as best practices when working with these organizations. Identifying and recognizing the indications that an ACO’s role will have within a patient treatment plan is essential in order to continue to strive towards increasing adherence rates.
