Select Biosciences South East Asia is pleased to present the second annual Lab-on-a-Chip Asia conference and exhibition, focusing on Microfluidic technologies with particular reference to Point-of-Care Diagnostics. Building on the success of last year’s event we are pleased to again be organizing the meeting in conjunction with the Singapore Institute of Manufacturing Technology (SIMTech), a globally recognized research institute of the Agency for Science and Technology Research (A*STAR). We are honoured to have Dr. Zhiping Wang, as the Conference Chairman. Dr. Wang is the Director of Research Programmes SIMTech and the SIMTech Microfluidics Foundry.

During this event, you will gain an insight into the latest developments in Microfluidics and Microfabrication, Optofluidics and Detection and Biomolecular Detection to name just a few of the exciting topics we will be covering.

In addition to the comprehensive conference programme, we will also be offering a tour of the facilities at the SIMTech Microfluidics Foundry. The tour will be hosted by Dr. Zhiping Wang and is open to all conference attendees, providing you with a detailed insight into the advanced work carried out by SIMTech.

Agenda Topics: - Biomolecular Detection - Cell Separation and Capture - Diagnostics and Medical Applications - Droplet Manipulation and Applications - Market Orientated Device Development - Microfabrication and Microfluidics Manufacturing Technology - Microfluidics Components and Devices - Nanotech on a Chip - Optofluidics and Detection - Single Cell Processing and Analysis

Global Ocean Warming has Doubled in Recent Decades
Lawrence Livermore scientists, working with National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and university colleagues, have found that half of the global ocean heat content increase since 1865 has occurred over the past two decades.
Single Molecule Detection of Contaminants, Explosives or Diseases
A technique that combines the ultrasensitivity of surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) with a slippery surface invented by Penn State researchers will make it feasible to detect single molecules of a number of chemical and biological species from gaseous, liquid or solid samples.
Super-Fine Solution to Sponge Up Micropollutants
A super-fine form of powdered activated carbon captures micropollutants more rapidly than the conventional kind and could by used in Swiss wastewater treatment plants, say EPFL researchers in a new study.
Cleaning Wastewater with Pond Scum
A blob of algae scooped from a fountain on South Street almost two years ago, has seeded a crop of the green stuff that Drexel University researchers claim is more effective at treating wastewater than many of the processes employed in municipal facilities today.
