Agilent and Marine Institute to Host One-day Workshop in Ireland

Research and Technology workshop in Galway, Ireland, on 11 September.

Agilent Technologies Inc. has announced that it will co-host a one-day workshop with the Marine Institute, Ireland’s national marine research agency, at its headquarters in Galway, Ireland, on 11 September.

Keynote speakers will include Dr. Philipp Hess of France’s Laboratoire Phycotoxines; professor Joerg Feldmann from the University of Aberdeen’s Element Speciation Laboratory; and Philip White and Andrew Morrissey, senior chemists at the Marine Institute.

These and other scientists will discuss how they are using LC/MS, GC/MS and ICPMS technologies to advance the field of marine research.

Agilent customers and scientists involved in chemical monitoring of the marine environment and marine food resources are invited to register for the event by 10 September.

“We are pleased to collaborate with the Marine Institute and bring together some of the world’s leading scientists in the field of marine research,” said Declan Murray, Agilent’s Ireland sales manager.

Murray continued, “We have compiled an excellent programme and it will provide a tremendous opportunity for delegates to interact with these leading scientists and hear how new technologies are improving productivity and selectivity for assessing harmful compounds that occur in the marine environment.”

Programme Highlights

• “Inorganic Arsenic Complexation by Sulphur in Seaweed: The Good, The Bad and The Ugly in Seaweed,” presented by professor Joerg Feldmann, University of Aberdeen.

• “Target Quantitation and Metabolic Studies of Marine Biotoxins in Shellfish Using LC QTOF Technology,” presented by Dr. Philipp Hess, Laboratoire Phycotoxines, Infremer, Nantes, France.

• “Persistant Pollutant Monitoring in Marine Waters,” presented by Philip White, Marine Institute.
