Biorex Diagnostics has recently launched their own food safety sister company, Biorex Food Diagnostics. The Antrim based company which specialize in medical diagnostics and point of care testing have recently opened their doors to Biorex Food Diagnostics at the start of October 2014.

Biorex Food Diagnostics offer a wide range of enzymatic immunoassay test kits (ELISAs ) for the rapid detection of microbial and industrial contaminants, natural toxins, hormones, antibiotics and other veterinary drug residues in food and feed.

The company’s current product range includes ELISA kits for detecting chemical residues such as antibiotics (chloramphenicol, nitrofurans, sulphonamides, tetracyclines), anabolic growth hormones (ractopamine, beta agonists) and mycotoxins (alfatoxins, ochratoxin). Their range of kits can be used in a wide number of sample matrices including honey, seafood, urine, milk, feed, nuts and dried fruit.

Each ELISA kit is highly sensitive with easy to follow assay and sample preparations combined with quick assay times (<1hr). These kits will offer food producers the ability to improve the quality of their produce and expedite the ability of food companies to export their products to other countries on a global scale.

Speaking about the launch of the company, Marketing Manager Mr Kevin Mullan said, “We are delighted about the launch of Biorex Food Diagnostics. Our ELISA product range offers outstanding performance in terms of sensitivity and specificity. We are dedicated to meeting the needs of the food safety market and by launching our drug residue screening product range we expect strong interest across all markets globally.”

Taking on board crucial feedback from food producers /processors, Biorex Food Diagnostics plan to continue and increase their product range in 2015. They aim to work alongside customers to respond quickly to any new food scares that may arise and develop test kits to suit the end users.
