GenCell Changes the Library Prep Game with CLiC LP

Company unveils CLiC LP at the Advances in Genome Biology and Technology meeting.

An introduction of CLiC LP at the Advances in Genome Biology and Technology (AGBT) meeting in Marco Island, Fla., marks a new chapter for laboratories around the world involved with genetic sequencing.

GenCell Biosystems has unveiled the world's first fully integrated, automated bench-top library prep workflow for next generation sequencing (NGS) that generates more data, quicker and at a lower cost.

"We're pleased to see the enthusiastic reaction from AGBT attendees as they discover how CLiC LP liberates lab personnel from mundane library preparation tasks and allows them to focus on sequencing and scientific discovery," said Kieran Curran, GenCell's founder and CEO.

In addition to streamlining NGS library prep into a single instrument, CLiC LP leverages GenCell's patented Composite Liquid Cell (CLC) Technology, which was awarded the prestigious Society of Laboratory Automation and Screening's New Product Award.

The structure mimics natural cell structure by fully encapsulating all reactions in oil, thus eliminating the need for plastic consumables. Additionally, the protocol-agnostic open architecture can deliver microfluidic miniaturization with as little as 300nL of a starting sample.

"We're excited at the possibilities that CLiC LP will create in terms of public health and improving overall quality of life by helping scientists take scientific research further, faster," Curran said. "In fact," continued Curran, "we recently signed a major agreement with the Fiocruz Public Health Foundation and the Institute of Molecular Biology of Paraná (IBMP) in Brazil to develop systems to diagnose infectious diseases in the Brazilian national public health system utilizing the CLiC LP technology."

The technology behind CLiC LP™ reduces labor costs with a 20-minute setup. It also grows with labs by employing a scalable throughput of up to 768 barcoded libraries per day.

At top speed, CLiC LP™ is three times faster than any other technology for library prep, all while offering walkaway automation.
