The Society for Laboratory Automation and Screening (SLAS) continues to move forward in service of its mission with the July launch of a new online e-zine, SLAS Electronic Laboratory Neighborhood (SLAS ELN) and an e-mail news brief, SLAS Point-to-Point.

“As we look toward our second year as a united organization, we will see an evolution in the ways SLAS shares information with the laboratory science and technology community,” says Michelle Palmer, Ph.D., SLAS President.

Palmer continued, “These two new vehicles are designed to work in harmony with SLAS journals, the website and our social media sites to create an integrated and more dynamic communication system that not only delivers information and ideas, but allows members of our scientific community to engage and share their own thoughts and experiences.”

SLAS has introduced SLAS ELN, an interactive, mobile-friendly e-zine presenting in-depth feature stories that share individual member experiences and perspectives on timely science-related topics.

Other elements include The Lab Man blogs and podcasts, personal profiles of individual members, selections from the LabAutopedia Book List, People Changing Places, new member announcements and highlights from SLAS social networking sites on Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter. Access to SLAS ELN is open to members and non-members at http://www.slas.org.

On July 13, SLAS members will also begin receiving weekly mobile-friendly e-mail news briefs called SLAS Point-to-Point. The easy-to-read bullet-point format of this e-brief will deliver Society news announcements, membership reminders, job postings and selected news headlines from throughout the laboratory science and technology community with links back to SLAS.org and other sources for more in-depth information.
