Manual Rainin Liquidator 96 Pipette Streamlines Genotyping

METTLER TOLEDO announce Affymetrix Research Services Lab is using the Rainin Liquidator 96 manual bench-scale pipetting system to augment its high-throughput genotyping services.

The Liquidator 96 allows Affymetrix to process 96-well sample plates quickly and precisely in support of its clients’ large-scale, microarray-based genotype studies. The technology is saving its lab an average of 30-45 minutes per every two prepared PCR plates.

“We use Rainin’s Liquidator 96 for high-throughput applications in many areas. Its versatility allowed us to replace lower capacity pipettes in PCR, purification and hybridization processes,” noted Kay Mekaru, Scientific Services Lab Supervisor, Affymetrix. The Liquidator 96 in fact has helped Affymetrix develop a complete protocol for running fast, high-quality whole-genome assays to provide enlightening insight into an organism’s gene expression profile.

The Liquidator 96 helps Affymetrix maintain the strict adherence to protocol required for success when working with whole genomes, allowing the company to expertly manage plate preparation, add master mix, and dilute, distribute and pool samples.
