Artel has announced that the Society for Laboratory Automation and Screening (SLAS) and Artel are working together to produce a conference short course for the 2015 annual meeting in Washington, D.C. “Liquid Handling Essentials - A Hands-on Workshop Bridging Fundamental Concepts to Practice,” will be presented on Saturday, February 7 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Based on content developed by Artel, the course is designed for both new and experienced users, providing in-depth instruction on topics, issues and techniques important to the laboratory science and technology community. “Artel employees are extremely qualified to serve as instructors for this course because they have collaborated with a wide range of liquid-handling robotic manufacturers to deliver measurement, verification and calibration technologies, tools and techniques,” stated Steven Hamilton, Ph.D., director, education, Society for Laboratory Automation and Screening.

Collaborating manufacturers include Agilent, Beckman Coulter, CyBio, Tecan and TTP Labtech. In this all-new, hands-on workshop, instruments from these leading manufacturers will be used to illustrate liquid handling principles that are essential in achieving reliable assay results. Participants will come away with greater proficiency, judgment and confidence regarding operation and management of their liquid handling instrumentation.

Instructors for the course will be Keith Albert, Ph.D., senior applications specialist for Artel; Dana Campbell, Artel field applications specialist; and Nathaniel Hentz, Ph.D., technology training director at North Carolina State University, with many years of experience in automation and assay development in life science laboratories.
