The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Office of Infectious Diseases (OID) has selected SRA International to provide IT-related support services for its Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).

The CDC Information Management Services (CIMS) task order is valued at $18 million over three years if all options are exercised. The OID mission is to lead, promote and facilitate science, programs and policies that reduce the burden of infectious diseases in the United States and around the world. LIMS is a configurable system for tracking clinical specimens, ordering tests, and reviewing and releasing results, as per a release.

"SRA brings a unique set of health and implementation systems experts to the CDC," said Health Group Senior Vice President Paul Nedzbala. "As a team, we're committed to helping the Office of Infectious Diseases achieve its mission by increasing the speed, efficiency and accuracy of lab deployments."

Under the contract, SRA will provide IT-related support for the management and integration of the LIMS platform supporting the CDC's Infectious Diseases laboratory organization. The project covers all phases of the LIMS software development lifecycle.
