Promium Awarded National LIMS Contract from Environment Canada

Environment Canada to implement Element LIMS for national network of environmental laboratories.

Promium, LLC, a leading provider of laboratory software, has announced that the company has received a contract from Environment Canada, the federal department responsible for environmental protection and monitoring in Canada, to supply Element LIMS (laboratory information management system) for Environment Canada’s national network of environmental laboratories.

This is the first time one uniform LIMS solution will be used by the two largest environmental organizations in North America. The Environment Canada implementation follows the implementation of Element LIMS software in regional laboratories for the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The U.S. EPA has been using Element LIMS for well over a decade.

The implementation of Element LIMS is a key part of the Environment Canada Laboratory Modernization Program, an effort to update the laboratory information infrastructure and create a national laboratory information management system (NLIMS). Element will initially be installed in a centralized Environment Canada data center and then deployed to eight regional laboratories across Canada. The project begins in April 2013.

The configurability of Element LIMS and the breadth of purpose-built features enable us to match up well with the needs of the individual laboratories and to accelerate the flow of data and samples,” continued Cocanour.

Environment Canada joins an increasing number of Promium customers that not only include the U.S. EPA and various other federal agencies, but also two hundred and fifty other commercial, state, and municipal customers in the United States, Canada, Thailand, Philippines, Malaysia, and Brazil.
