Exostar, whose cloud-based solutions enable secure, cost-effective business-to-business collaboration, has announced that Parexel is the latest clinical research organization (CRO) to become a member of Exostar’s rapidly growing Life Sciences community.  More than 500 pharmaceutical manufacturers, investigators, CROs, and other organizations and over 10,000 individuals in nearly 50 countries on six continents are collaborating productively and securely by connecting to Exostar’s cloud-based Life Sciences Identity Hub.

Parexel provides a broad range of knowledge-based contract research, consulting, medical communications, and technology solutions and services to the worldwide pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and medical device industries.  The company’s expertise spans the development and commercialization continuum, from drug development and regulatory consulting to clinical pharmacology and clinical trials management.

The Exostar Life Sciences Identity Hub reduces the cost and resource burdens of collaborating with external partners through a connect-once architecture for systems and applications.  Because the cloud-based solution is delivered as-a-Service, participants benefit from streamlined and standardized organization and user provisioning processes.  New community members can be working productively with their partners within days instead of weeks or months.

Organizations like Parexel retain administrative responsibility for their assets, including identifying valid users and their permissions and privileges.  Exostar’s Secure Access Manager (SAM) provides the identity and access management functionality to ensure intellectual property and sensitive data are protected at all times.  SAM validates identities through strong authentication and enforces access rules established by asset owners.  Parexel is further raising its employees’ efficiencies through SAM’s Enterprise Access Gateway (EAG) feature.  EAG lets individuals use their existing credentials to access the partner applications to which they are entitled, offering a true single sign-on experience.

“Parexel is committed to providing solutions that help its customers expedite time-to-market and achieve peak market penetration,” said Tom Johnson, Exostar’s Senior Director of Security and Collaboration Solutions for Life Sciences.  “Our community allows them to more effectively achieve these objectives by creating a connected, integrated environment where intelligence can be shared seamlessly and securely.”
