Novel Applications of Flow Chemistry in Industry and Academia

About the Speaker
Andrew obtained his degree in Applied Chemistry in 1994 and has developed a solid background in implementing novel chemical technology into Pharmaceutical research. Over his career Andrew has worked for a number of Pharmaceutical companies including Roche, Napp, Parke-Davies and Pfizer and completed a successful secondment in Prof. Steve Ley’s research group at Cambridge University. He has been involved from the early stages in developing laboratory automation and implementing new chemical technologies to help in both synthetic and purification applications. This experience led to running an independent flow chemistry consultancy company, Flow Chemistry Solutions developing batch to flow methodology for a range of companies as well as training and beta development for the UK flow chemistry equipment manufacturers. Andrew moved to Vapourtec in 2013 to become their in-house application specialist. Andrew continues to be active in the flow chemistry community both in organising international conferences and presenting his current research interests.Abstract
Flow chemistry is a growing technique that is finding increased application over a wide range of industries and research areas. The increased reaction control, inherent scalability and ability to perform multistep continuous processes opens the scope further for future development. The presentation looks at the advantages flow chemistry can offer with specific examples covering a broad range of examples.
