One Lambda, Inc. has launched its RUO NXType™ Kit, a research use only (RUO) solution for human leukocyte antigen (HLA) typing by next-generation sequencing (NGS). The NXType sequencing kits feature long-range primers and an improved chemistry on the Ion Torrent Personal Genome Machine (PGM) system, enabling full-range sequencing of HLA Class I & II genes in three days.

This solution means that One Lambda can now provide laboratories with everything they need for their NGS HLA typing needs. In addition to the PGM instrument, the NXType workflow includes: a comprehensive kit containing HLA Primer Mixes, ancillary reagents and TypeStream™, One Lambda’s exclusive NGS Analysis Software. The NXType workflow also includes a comprehensive customer support system that provides users with in-depth training and technical support to ensure a smooth transition to this new technology.

“One Lambda has successfully streamlined our NGS workflow with their new NXType Kit by greatly improving the efficiency on the PGM platform,” said Dr. Susan Hsu of the American Red Cross in Philadelphia. “The pooling of the library preparation and enhanced workflow has given the NXType Kit and the PGM platform a distinct advantage in the NGS HLA typing arena. One major advantage with NXType is that one technologist in a laboratory can now fully sequence HLA Class I & II genes within three working days.”

The new NXType assay brings together a unique, three-day workflow that is suitable for many laboratory applications and can be customized to handle a range of sample sizes. The NXType workflow uses a five-step process that enables the user to take a methodical, time-saving approach to high resolution HLA typing.

NXType is currently available in RUO format with future plans for CE and IVD marks.
