Visitors to Interphex 2014 (International Pharmaceutical Expo, 18-20 March, New York City) will have the opportunity to discover how the unique capabilities of the FT4 Powder Rheometer® from Freeman Technology support the development of continuous pharmaceutical manufacturing processes.

In addition to discussing the latest developments in continuous wet granulation, specialists from Freeman Technology will be on hand throughout the event to demonstrate the FT4 Powder Rheometer and provide practical advice on all aspects of powder characterization. Meet the team on Booth #2336.

Freeman Technology recently undertook a collaborative project with GEA Pharma Systems, a global provider of pharmaceutical processing solutions, to investigate the optimization and control of continuous wet granulation. Wet granulation is routinely used in the pharmaceutical industry to prepare blends for tableting.

The new research reveals correlations between the dynamic powder properties of pre-tableting wet granules and the critical quality attributes of final oral solid dosage tablets. These results illustrate how dynamic powder testing using the FT4 Powder Rheometer enables the streamlining of product development and can help ensure product control during continuous manufacturing procedures.

The FT4 Powder Rheometer is a universal powder tester, measuring bulk, shear and dynamic powder properties, and can test powders in consolidated, aerated and even fluidized states.

The system delivers detailed, relevant and precise powder characterization information that supports the rationalization and optimization of powder handling processes at every stage of pharmaceutical manufacture, from formulation through to Quality Control.
