DeNovix DS-11: Next Generation 1uL spectrophotometer for DNA, RNA & Protein
DeNovix, Inc.

The patent pending DS-11 spectrophotometer rapidly quantifies 0.5 – 1.5 ul samples of nucleic acids and proteins. The stand-alone unit includes an Android™ based operating system that does not require a PC. The DS-11 meets or exceeds the performance specifications of the market leading microvolume spectrophotometer while saving space, time and money. Free one-week trials are available for US & UK* customers. DeNovix pays the shipping costs to and from your lab for evaluation. See website for details. The system features a glove compatible, 7” HD touch screen. The DS-11 includes Wi-Fi, USB, and Ethernet connectivity, allowing users to easily export data via email, a USB drive, or via an optional printer. Measurements are made using intuitive EasyApps® designed for the most common life science applications. Rapidly quantify DNA, ssDNA, RNA, purified proteins, labeled proteins, or obtain user defined spectrophotometric measurements using the pre-installed apps. The DS-11 is a full spectrum (190-840nm) UV-Vis spectrophotometer and measures the broadest concentration range of any microvolume spectrophotometer. Options include three color choices and an optional model that includes both microvolume and cuvette modes (DS-11+). With SmartPath® Technology, the DS-11 provides reliable 1uL sample results every time. The instrument's opto-mechanical components and proprietary algorithms together provide pathlength control and performance unmatched by any microvolume and spectrophotometer. Benefits of SmartPath Technology: » No recalibration time or expense » Measure proteins with confidence » Results in 4 seconds - no dilutions required » Broadest dynamic range: 0.04 - 500 AU (1 cm equivalent) Measurement range: 2.0 - 25,000 ng/µL dsDNA and 0.10 - 750 mg/ml BSA For more information about the DeNovix DS-11 Microvolume Spectrophotometer, or to locate distributors and representatives visit: http://www.denovix.com About DeNovix Inc.: DeNovix Inc., founded in 2012, is a Wilmington, DE, USA based instrumentation company that develops, manufactures and sells laboratory equipment to meet the demands of today’s evolving life science research. DeNovix focuses on providing innovative products and outstanding customer support. The company’s first product, the DS-11 Spectrophotometer, is the first stand-alone microvolume spectrophotometer that is controlled by a built-in Android™ operating system. The instrument, used for quantification of nucleic acids and proteins, features an easy to use brilliant touch screen interface, Wi-Fi and Ethernet connectivity, four-second measurement time; three color choices and two model choices. *UK trial offer not valid for Northern Ireland.

Low-Cost, Portable NQR Spectroscopy
A researcher at Case Western Reserve University is developing a low-cost, portable prototype designed to detect tainted medicines and food supplements that otherwise can make their way to consumers. The technology can authenticate good medicines and supplements.
Structure of Brain Plaques in Huntington's
Researchers at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine have shown that the core of the protein clumps found in the brains of people with Huntington's disease have a distinctive structure, a finding that could shed light on the molecular mechanisms underlying the neurodegenerative disorder.
Insights into the Function of the Main Class of Drug Targets
About thirty percent of all medical drugs such as beta-blockers or antidepressants interact with certain types of cell surface proteins called G protein coupled receptors.
The Power of Three
Overlooked portion of cell “death receptor” critical in some cancers, autoimmune diseases.
Revealing the Secrets of 19th Century Fashion Industry
The dye industry of the 19th century was fast-moving and international, according to a state-of-the-art analysis of four purple dresses.
How Nanoparticles Damage Immune Cells
New evidence points to protein oxidation, a common means of molecular damage.
Single Molecule Detection of Contaminants, Explosives or Diseases
A technique that combines the ultrasensitivity of surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) with a slippery surface invented by Penn State researchers will make it feasible to detect single molecules of a number of chemical and biological species from gaseous, liquid or solid samples.
Extracting Uranium from Seawater
An ultra-high-resolution technique used for the first time to study polymer fibers that trap uranium in seawater may cause researchers to rethink the best methods to harvest this potential fuel for nuclear reactors.
Innovation Boosts Study of Fragile Biological Samples
Researchers have found a simple new way to study very delicate biological samples – like proteins at work in photosynthesis and components of protein-making machines called ribosomes – at the atomic scale using SLAC's X-ray laser.
