Exiqon Introduces microRNA qPCR Panels for Stem Cell Research

Scientists to apply a panel of qPCR microRNA assays optimized for embryonic and induced pluripotent research.

Exiqon A/S has launched microRNA qPCR panels for stem cell research.
The new Stem Cell Focus microRNA PCR Panels allow scientists interested in stem cell research to apply a panel of qPCR microRNA assays optimized for embryonic and induced pluripotent research.

The 85 qPCR and 11 control assays have been experimentally optimized and validated to fit the needs of researchers interested in differentiation, proliferation, development and homeostasis of stem cells.

Recent research has documented the importance of microRNAs in the differentiation of stem cells as microRNAs are directly involved in determining the fate of the undifferentiated stem cells and in the process of inducing pluripotency of differentiated cells.

The Stem Cell Focus microRNA PCR Panels offered by Exiqon are perfectly suited for testing the degree and type of differentiation as well as the quality of the differentiation.

In a comment, Senior Vice President Sales & Marketing Henrik M. Pfundheller said: “We understand from our customers that they only have access to very limited sample material. We are therefore offering a product that only requires a 10 µl reaction volume and can detect down to 5 copies of microRNAs which is unprecedented in the market”.

He added: “Also microRNAs with high sequence content of A and T that are normally hard to detect are readily detected due to the inclusion of LNA™ in the PCR primers”.

The Stem Cell Focus microRNA PCR Panels are based on the most sensitive microRNA qPCR platform available with required sample input of as little as 1 pg of total RNA without any need for pre-amplification and thus avoiding risk of introducing bias in the generation of cDNA due to the unique universal RT step.

All major brands of qPCR instruments are supported by the Stem Cell Focus microRNA PCR Panels including instruments for both 96 and 384 well array formats.

The Stem Cell Focus microRNA PCR Panels are fully compatible with all other products in the miRCURY LNA™ Universal RT microRNA PCR system product line including the data analysis software. The entire work process from sample to data can be completed in 3 hours.

Exiqon offers a complete range of PCR products for the microRNA analysis which includes ready-to-use panels for genome-wide screening of human, mouse and rat microRNAs, numerous other focus panels, the fully flexible Pick & Mix panels, spike in kits, as well as RT and Master Mix kits, sample preparation and a unique qPCR data analysis software.

If customers have identified proprietary microRNAs and would like to take advantage of Exiqon’s proprietary LNA™ chemistry and unique RT technology, Exiqon also offers an easy to use design software for high quality design of custom microRNA qPCR assays.
