Millipore Corporation has announced the release of a new range of primary human epithelial cells. Developed by CELLnTEC Advanced Cell Systems, these epithelial cell cultures are made available by Millipore as part of a partnership agreement signed in 2006.
Supplied as complete kits including specialized media for their propagation, these primary cell cultures provide an enriched population of progenitor cells from skin, cornea, and bladder epithelia. These unique cells have significant applications for all medical research laboratories studying epithelial disease, regenerative medicine, cancers of these tissues, or basic biology of these tissues’ epithelia.
The new cells display optimal modeling and morphology, plus extended longevity due to their isolation in CELLnTEC’s Progenitor Cell Targeted (PCT) media formulations. PCT culture media are developed to specifically mimic the environment of the stem cell niche, and significantly increase isolation efficiency, progenitor cell enrichment and longevity of epithelial cell cultures.
Primary progenitor cells in kits with optimized media are a highly convenient solution for many researchers. Laboratories lacking either access to tissue or the expertise to conduct the difficult isolation of primary epithelial cells may now extend the reach of their discoveries. By providing pre-isolated, long-lived progenitor cells, Millipore and CELLnTEC are enabling the research community to expand its research potential.
Millipore has evolved from a high performance filtration products and services company into a leading provider of tools and services and a key partner of choice for Life Science customers. We’ve transformed ourselves through R&D investment, organic growth, and acquisitions such as Chemicon, Upstate, Linco, Celliance, Newport Bio Systems, NovAseptic AB and MicroSafe.
The integrated Millipore offers more innovative technologies and stronger application support to streamline processes and provide consistently reliable results. The expert scientists in our Life Sciences business unit understand the complexity of Life Science research and can support our customers in their most difficult challenges in cell biology, stem cells, protein research, and cell signaling.
