Confidante® is a revolutionary new sexual health test. It is the only over-the-counter (OTC) product that can simultaneously detect 10 of the most common sexually transmitted infections (STI) in a single test.

Randox Laboratories, an international diagnostic solutions company headquartered in the UK, has launched Confidante® to offer a reliable and confidential solution for individuals who wish to test at home.

The latest Health Protection Agency (HPA) figures for STIs have shown a significant rise since 2010. For example, Gonorrhoea has increased by 25%, Syphilis by 5% and 1 in 14 people aged 16-24 have Chlamydia. It is clear to see that a reliable, easy to use, confidential test is greatly needed.

Confidante® from Randox offers a simple, accurate and confidential solution. Taking the test is straight-forward, customers just take either a urine or swab sample in the privacy of their own home and then send it to our laboratories for testing. The test comes with its own transport container and postage-paid envelope, ensuring convenience for the customer. Results are supplied directly to the customer via their chosen method (phone, email or post) within a few days. Unlike other products that can only test for 1 or 2 STIs, Confidante® is the first OTC product that allows customers to test for 10 commonly occurring STIs simultaneously in a single test. Confidante® tests for;

1)    Chlamydia trachomatis
2)    Neisseria gonorrhoea
3)    Treponema pallidum (Syphilis)
4)    Herpes Simplex Virus I
5)    Herpes Simplex Virus II
6)    Trichomonas vaginalis
7)    Mycoplasma hominis
8)    Mycoplasma genitalium
9)    Ureaplasma urealyticum
10)    Haemophilus ducreyi (Chancroid)

Confidante® is a cutting-edge testing procedure using molecular diagnostic technology that far exceeds other STI tests currently available. Our highly sensitive testing methods ensure results are extremely accurate. Confidante® allows individuals to take control of their sexual health in a convenient and confidential manner.

STIs spread quickly and easily through unprotected sex, however many STIs do not show any visible symptoms, making it difficult to tell who has one and who does not. Even though STI rates are increasing, many young people are now taking charge of their sexual health. They may decide to take a test for various reasons; if they notice symptoms, change their sexual partner, have unprotected sex or a partner who has tested positive for an STI. STIs which are left undetected or untreated can cause severe long term health problems, including infertility. There has never been a more important time for sexual health testing.
