Dako has announced that it has added the new Jenner-Wright Giemsa stain to its Dako Artisan™ Link portfolio, the broadest palette of automated stains.
Dako is releasing the stain in its continuing mission to provide pathology labs around the world with the most advanced special stain solutions and the broadest portfolio of stains. The stain, available only from Dako, will be commercially available March 3.
The Jenner-Wright Giemsa stain is designed to provide clear differentiation and detail of the hematopoietic cells in bone marrow tissue samples for the diagnosis of cancer, aplastic anemia and myelofibrosis. The stain gives pathologists an added dimension to the visualization of the cell morphology.
Dako's Artisan™ portfolio provides the broadest range of automated special stains available. The portfolio, consisting now of 31 high-quality stains, covers nearly all of a typical lab's special stain needs. It also enables labs to take advantage of the productivity benefits possible through automation with the Artisan™ Link Pro instrument.

Laboratories that routinely do special stains will also benefit from a 64 percent reduction in hands-on time with Artisan™ Link Pro, compared with the same protocols performed manually.
Significant gains in lab safety can also be realized because the Artisan™ Link Pro and its RTU reagents are closed, minimizing the exposure to hazardous chemicals, and can be connected to ventilation systems.
The instrument also features a unique waste separation system that reduces hazardous waste generation to help labs minimize the cost of disposal.
Dako plans to continue adding more stains to the portfolio.
