Leatherhead's two-day Everything European course aims to provide delegates with comprehensive coverage of the principles and application of current and upcoming EU Food Law. The presenters will explain how to identify, keep up-to-date with and apply relevant legislation as an aid to both new product development and legality of current product ranges.

Day 1 covers an introduction to the different European institutions and how they work together to decide and create food policies, key areas of EU food law such as the general principles of food law, food safety and hygiene, food additives, flavourings, novel food approval, GM foods/ingredients declaration, food packaging, food contaminants and pesticides.

Day 2 will focus on how to ensure the acceptability of a food product label according to current and future European rules on food labelling. All mandatory labelling requirements will be explained thoroughly including product name, ingredient listing, lot and weight marking, allergens and QUID declaration, marketing terms, organic foods, nutrition labelling, fortified foods, food supplements and food for particular nutritional purposes (infant formulae, dietetic foods), nutrition and health claims and the proposed nutrient profiling.
