E-621 LVPZT Amplifier & Servo-Controller Module with High-Speed RS-232 Interface

Product Description
The E-621 is a newly developed improvement on the E-610-series modular controller/amplifier for low-voltage PZTs and offers the full functionality of that line. In addition, the E-621 is equipped with an RS-232 interface and command interpreter.

New and Fast Communications Interface
The RS-232 interface handles the communications with the outside world. It performs up to 300 read or write operations per second and incorporates precision 20-bit D/A and A/D converters for exceptional positional stability and resolution.

Multi-Axis Network
Up to 12 E-621s with any combination of SGS and LVDT sensors can be networked and controlled over a single RS-232 interface. The different modules are connected in parallel (not daisy-chained) over the link. A special chassis (E-500.621) is available for up to 12 E-621 modules. It automatically provides the power and network connections to the individual E-621 modules, so no additional wiring is required. Only an additional 10 ms internal bus communications time is required to reach any of the units behind the one actually connected to the host PC.

PI General Command Set
The E-621 is to a large extent freely programmable and its command structure conforms to the PI General Command Set. This command set is common to the E-516 Piezo Interface and Display Module (see link) and an increasing number of PI controllers. All new controllers for motors and actuators will understand these commands. This will greatly reduce the effort required to produce custom programs, especially in environments which include a number of different controllers. Included with the E-621 is user-interface software as well as LabView® and other driver sets.
