BioTek Instruments will demonstrate their latest microplate-based imaging, detection and liquid handling solutions for cancer research at the AACR Annual Meeting to be held April 18-22 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Featured at BioTek’s booth #1463 will be the award-winning, second generation Cytation™ 5 Cell Imaging Multi-Mode Microplate Reader. Cytation 5 is a configurable system that combines automated digital widefield microscopy with conventional multi-mode microplate reading to provide phenotypic cellular information and well-based quantitative data. This single instrument platform can process workflows that would traditionally require multiple instruments and software interfaces, and is simple to setup and operate.

With up to 60x magnification, the microscopy module provides high-quality cellular and sub-cellular imaging in fluorescence, brightfield and phase contrast. The multi-mode microplate reader features BioTek’s patented Hybrid Technology™, which incorporates variable bandwidth monochromator optics and high sensitivity filter-based detection optics for unmatched versatility and performance. In addition, the Epoch 2 Microplate Spectrophotometer and the popular 405 Touch Microplate Washer will be on display.

In conjunction with Corning Life Sciences, the following presentations will take place at the show:

Cellular Analysis of 3D Spheroid-based Tumor Invasion Assays
Given daily at Corning Life Sciences Booth #500

A combined solution for the generation of 3D spheroidal tumoroid structures, creation of a suitable invasion matrix, image-based monitoring of tumor invasion, and cellular analysis of captured images using 96-well Spheroid Microplates from Corning Life Sciences and the Cytation Cell Imaging Multi-Mode Reader from BioTek Instruments will be presented.

Automated, Kinetic Imaging of Cell Migration and Invasion Assays using Corning® FluoroBlok™ Permeable Supports
Given daily at Corning Life Sciences Booth #500

This presentation will demonstrate the ability to perform kinetic monitoring and cellular analysis of in vitro migration and invasion using inverted fluorescence microscopy with the Cytation Cell Imaging Multi-Mode Reader from BioTek Instruments and FluoroBlok™ permeable supports from Corning Life Sciences.

Phenotypic and Mechanism of Action Analysis of Anti-Metastatic Molecules using 3D Spheroid-Based Tumor Invasion Assays, Kinetic Microplate Detection, and Cellular Microscopy
Exhibitor Spotlight Presentation, Tuesday, April 21, 3:00 – 4:00 pm, Exhibit Spotlight Theater B, Halls B-E

A method to perform 3D tumor invasion assays and mechanism of action (MoA) determinations will be presented. Tumor invasion tracking was performed via digital microscopy and cellular analysis using the Cytation Cell Imaging Multi-Mode Reader.

Also demonstrated will be the ability to examine drug-target residence time of inhibitors prior to phenotypic invasion analysis, in addition to determination of the involvement of matrix metalloproteinases during the invasion process. The combination presents an accurate, yet easy-to-use method to assess target-based and phenotypic effects of new, potential anti-metastatic drugs.
