Biotage has announced the extension of the ISOLUTE® PLD+ protein and phospholipid removal product line to include the versatile tabless 1 mL column format, for the clean-up of blood based matrix samples for analysis by LC-MS/MS.

ISOLUTE® PLD+ 96-well plates and columns combine protein and phospholipid removal into a single product providing very effective and extremely simple sample clean-up for LC-MS/MS analysis. The new format is ideal for lower throughput applications, or for laboratories that have variable sample numbers to process.

Up to 96 columns can be processed using specially designed base plates, eliminating the problem of wasted unused wells. Utilizing the Biotage simple solvent crash / filter process ISOLUTE® PLD+ columns incorporate a phospholipid scavenging sorbent layer, which removes phospholipids from the sample during the filtration step.

ISOLUTE® PLD+ removes more than 99% of plasma proteins and phospholipids, the main causes of ion suppression, leading to cleaner extracts and increased sensitivity, signal-to-noise, for a broad range of analytes.

Once purified, samples can be analyzed directly, or evaporated and reconstituted in a solvent that matches users analytical method requirements. ISOLUTE® PLD+ products can be processed using compatible positive pressure manifolds (such as the Biotage® Pressure+ 96 or 48), vacuum manifolds (for example the Biotage® VacMaster™ range) and most automated liquid handling systems.

“Requiring next to no method development, the new ISOLUTE® PLD+ 1ml tabless columns can be integrated quickly and easily into routine workflow, increasing productivity and reducing instrument downtime” says Dr Claire Desbrow, Product Manager, Analytical Chemistry, Biotage.
