The SPECTROstar Omega is an upgradeable absorbance microplate reader with a CCD-based spectrometer for full spectrum analysis. It can capture an entire UV/Vis absorbance spectrum, from 220 – 1000 nm at a resolution of 1 nm, in less than 1 second per well

SPECTROstar Omega - UV/Vis spectrophotometer microplate reader
The SPECTROstar Omega can measure an entire spectrum (220-1000 nm) at resolutions of 1, 2, 5, or 10 nm or it can measure fixed user-defined wavelengths in microplate formats from 6 to 1536-well. The ultra-fast spectrometer allows users to capture the UV/Vis spectrum of a sample within one second per well.

Applications include:
• 260/280 DNA quantitation
• Protein quantitation (e.g. Bradford, Lowry, BCA)
• Reporter gene assays (e.g. ß-Gal, SEAP)
• Cell proliferation and apoptosis (e.g. MTT Assay)
• ELISA, enzyme immunoassays (e.g. alkaline phosphatase, horseradish peroxidase)
• Enzyme activity assays (e.g. NADH and NADPH)
• Reaction optimization by parallel kinetic studies
• Microbial growth
• Protein aggregation

Additional features:
Up to two reagent injectors for dispensing reagents and initiating kinetic events can be added. Furthermore, precise temperature control up to 45°C or 65°C, gas vent connection, multi-mode shaking capability, well-scanning, and real-time kinetic monitoring are just a few of the many innovative features of the SPECTROstar Omega.

Complete control of O2 and CO2 within the microplate reader
Gas control can be achieved in the SPECTROstar Omega using the Atmospheric Control Unit (ACU). This proprietary method of gas regulation independently monitors the O2 and CO2 concentrations in the reader and precisely controls the gas input until the selected percentage of O2 (1-19%) and CO2 (0-20%) are realized.

Upgradeability to a multimode reader:
Due to the absolute modular concept of the SPECTROstar Omega, it is entirely upgradeable to a multimode microplate reader at any time. Whenever the need for fluorescence, luminescence, or time-resolved based experiments arrives, the SPECTROstar Omega can be upgraded to a FLUOstar Omega or even to the POLARstar Omega with Simultaneous Dual Emission and Fluorescence Polarization / Anisotropy detection mode.

Stacker and robot compatibility
For automatic plate handling, a 50-plate Stacker with optional barcode reader is available. For even higher throughput, the SPECTROstar Omega can be integrated into all leading robotic systems via ActiveX or DDE interface.

Software package
The SPECTROstar Omega license-free software includes the Omega Reader Control and the MARS Data Analysis software. This highly intuitive software provides limitless possibilities for test set-up and data analysis, while also offering one-click, app-style application shortcuts for running routine tests and data analyses.
