Designed specifically for the SpectraMax® i3 Multi-Mode Detection Platform, the field-upgradeable SpectraMax MiniMax™ 300 Imaging Cytometer option enables quick inspection of cells and provides insight into phenotypic changes that are important for understanding cytotoxicity, cell proliferation, and protein expression.

The SpectraMax® MiniMax™ 300 Imaging Cytometer option offers cellular imaging capability, and much more:

  • Simplified workflow: Cell and whole-well assays in a small footprint
  • No Stain Analysis: Eliminate cell staining for cell counting and confluency measurements using StainFree™ Technology
  • More data: Multi-parametric cell-based assays with brightfield and green and red fluorescent imaging
  • Familiar software: Set up, image and analyze cells in a snap using SoftMax® Pro Microplate Data Acquisition & Analysis Software
  • Higher sensitivity: Easily measure low cell concentration samples
  • Lower variance: Normalize your plate data to the number of cells in each well

The SpectraMax MiniMax™ 300 enables the following applications:

  • Cell Proliferation/Cytotoxicity

Imaging cell-based assays typically requires the use of fluorescent probes that can be toxic to living cells or may require fixation. A label-free method for analyzing cell counts and cell confluence enables researchers to quantitatively monitor cell proliferation and health without time-consuming workflows that may disrupt cell viability.

The SpectraMax® i3 Multi-Mode Microplate Platform with MiniMax™ 300 Imaging Cytometer uses StainFree™ Cell Detection Technology so that you can perform cell proliferation, cytotoxicity, and other assays without fluorescent labels. For assays requiring multi-color detection and analysis, the SpectraMax MiniMax Imaging Cytometer now offers two channels of fluorescence, along with new cell analysis and classification methods.

This versatility is powered by SoftMax® Pro software with novel algorithms for object recognition providing multi-parametric outputs for a wide range of cell-based assays. An intuitive user interface lets even non-imaging specialists to get up and running quickly.

In our poster we demonstrate how this platform can be used to obtain more biologically relevant data. StainFree Technology enables cell counting comparable to fluorescent nuclear counts. IC50 curves for compound-treated cells obtained through StainFree analysis are presented. Cell viability assessment using the EarlyTox™ Cell Integrity assay plus
classification feature in SoftMax Pro software provide detailed information on compound
effects. Plate reader assays using luminescence or other detection modes of the
SpectraMax i3 platform can easily be combined with imaging cytometry to obtain more
information on the mechanisms of cell toxicity.
