Triticum monococcum, a valuable source for horizontal resistance against P. triticina was analyzed microscopically and by transcriptional profiling. To find out, which genotype is recommended for intensive and which one is for extensive cultivation, the performances of the varieties were characterized under low and also under favourable nitrogen supply. The varieties were also ranked based on the increased level of their performance due to the nitrogen supply. Correlations between the measured phenotypic data and the NUE parameters were also calculated.
