Dr Lal PathLabs, India’s diagnostics leader, has selected STARLIMS, an Abbott company, as the provider of its new Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS). STARLIMS will be implemented for use in its entire network consisting of the National Reference Lab (NRL) in New Delhi, approximately 100 satellite labs and 1,000 collection centres all over India. The main solution will be installed at its hub at the NRL at Rohini, Delhi.
Dr Lal PathLabs tests around 21,000 patients daily at NRL which is equipped with state-of-the-art technologies, laboratory professionals, spread over 85,000 sq ft., providing some of the fastest turn-around-times (TAT) in the industry. Dr Lal PathLabs performs over 30 million tests annually and STARLIMS will be used to manage the entire testing life cycle - from sample login to reporting.
“Knowing that our legacy system was being phased out, we searched for a new information management solution that would guarantee the reliability and quality of each test we perform, in every lab discipline. STARLIMS can do all that, while also enhancing our communications with our laboratories and sample collection sites across the country,” said Dr Arvind Lal, Chairman and MD.
