Syrris has received outstanding praise in a recently published article (1). Secretary of State for Business, Vince Cable, paid tribute to Syrris for the extensive progress in its Brazilian exports, following the opening the subsidiary office in January 2010. The São Paulo facility has enabled Syrris to provide efficient and direct support to its Latin American customer base.
Having increased Brazilian sales to approximately £250,000 in the past year, this market clearly provides significant opportunities within research and development, especially within the automated chemistry sector. Vince Cable commented, “It is clear to me that there is great untapped potential in the UK’s business relationship with Brazil. Syrris is one company that is clearly leading the way”.
Syrris designs and manufactures flow chemistry, microreactor and automation products for research and development chemists. As a UK based company, Syrris began exporting to the US and Western Europe in 2004 and now boasts a global network of over 30 distributors, including Argentina, Poland and Spain, as well as subsidiary offices in the US, Japan, India and Brazil.
Nick Tate, Syrris’s Chief Financial Officer commented, “We have been singled out by Mr Cable primarily because we have always been very committed to exporting. We decided to focus on Brazil since we had the goal of establishing a bigger footprint within Latin America, where there is an outstanding amount of potential.” He continued, “Future plans also include plans to expand into Mexico and Chile”.
