New Technology Combines Checkweighing and Metal Detection in Compact Unit

Maximizes consumer protection for bulk food, chemical and plastic industry applications.

Bulk food, chemical and plastic industry manufacturers who need to verify package weight and ensure products are free from metal contamination can now get both inspection technologies in one compact system.

Mettler-Toledo Garvens has designed the XE100 CC Compact, the first product inspection machine that integrates checkweighing and metal detection technologies using a single short conveyor with Mettler-Toledo’s patented metal inspection technology.

The XE100 CC Compact enables manufacturers to meet regulatory compliance with weight specifications and at the same time uphold their brand reputation by guaranteeing that products are free from foreign metal contaminants.

Designed to accommodate large products and bulk items, the XE100 CC Compact can inspect up to 80 products per minute, ranging in sizes up to 60 kilograms per package.

The space-saving system can be easily integrated into production lines and offers a user-friendly, intuitive interface that requires minimal training to operate.

Highly accurate load cell technology guarantees precise, consistent weighing. When over- or underweight products are detected, the conveyor automatically stops and an alarm is sounded, allowing operators to remove it from the line.

This ensures manufacturers avoid costly fines for non-compliance with metrology standards. In addition the optional feedback control alerts the filling machines to adverse portion trends to reduce product give-away caused by over-filling.

The XE100 CC Compact offers one of the most sensitive metal detection technologies on the market today, with a small metal free zone of 150 mm for non-movable parts and 300 mm at movable parts.

By identifying foreign metal contaminants, the system significantly helps prevent product recalls and potential threats to public safety, ensuring brand integrity.

The product inspection system is easy to clean and maintain, reducing downtime and offering manufacturers greater flexibility and efficiency.

Its innovative conveyor belt design is outfitted with a quick release mechanism, allowing manufacturers to replace the conveyor belt quickly without the need to dismantle or remove mechanical parts.

The XE100 CC Compact meets all technical and organizational conditions required for metrological testing, according to the European Measurement Instrument Directive (MID).

Mettler-Toledo offers a wide range of standard features and options to further ease integration and configuration.

In addition, the human machine interface (HMI) is pre-configured with 28 languages for global operations, providing fast navigation to operators.
