For researchers working with limited sample volumes in automated laboratories, the Large Opening R.A.M.™ Vial, 12x32mm, with StepVial design offers a timesaving and efficient solution.

Designed by J.G. Finneran Associates, the originator of innovative sample handling products, the StepVial system is a combination of vial and insert with a 40% larger target area for sampling needles used by autosamplers.

The inserts are centered precisely into the recessed “step” in the neck opening of the vial, eliminating the need for metal or plastic springs.

Large Opening R.A.M.™ (Robotic Arm Machine) vials were designed for use with robotic arm autosamplers such as those available from Agilent Technologies and others.

Large Opening R.A.M.™ Vials are available in clear or amber Type 1 borosilicate glass with a 9 mm threaded neck finish. Glass limited volume step inserts with volumes of 0.250mL for conical bottom inserts and 0.350mL for flat bottom inserts are available.

The vials are available with a large marking spot allowing researchers to mark vials easily with a #2 pencil or marker.

A variety of 9mm closures and septa designed specifically to work with the 12x32mm StepVial are also available.

“The original step design recessed the insert flange to keep it from being crushed while screwing on the cap,” says Jerry Finneran, CEO at J.G. Finneran Associates. “But we saw it could also center the insert in the vial, which really helped chromatographers to prepare their samples for the autosampler.”

Unique chromatography sample vials and closures manufactured by J.G. Finneran Associates are available internationally from a network of laboratory dealers.
