BioStorage Technologies has announced that it has received a business license from the Chaoyang Commission of Commerce to provide comprehensive sample management solutions in Beijing, China.

Through an exclusive partnership with Charles River Laboratories, BioStorage Technologies will provide technical consulting on sample management best practices, while Charles River Laboratories will host the physical storage of biological samples at their facility in Beijing.

As part of this collaboration, both companies will focus on expanding sample management solutions to global biopharmaceutical companies interested in conducting research in China.

Charles River Laboratories brings to the partnership its established life science research business infrastructure, relationships and leadership position in biopharmaceutical research within China.

BioStorage Technologies brings expertise in best-in-class sample storage, logistics and sample management technology solutions to global biopharmaceutical research and development companies, enabling them to expand their biopharmaceutical discovery and research within China.

“China represents an important opportunity for BioStorage Technologies as the region has experienced extreme growth in biopharmaceutical drug development in recent years,” said Greg Swanberg, CEO, BioStorage Technologies.

Swanberg continued, “We are honored to partner with an industry leader such as Charles River with the capabilities and infrastructure that allows us to bring technical expertise, world-class processes and technology platforms closer to the organizations conducting research in China.”

For biopharmaceutical companies conducting clinical trials in China, complex shipping regulations have led to difficulties in exporting biological samples outside of the region. As a result, there is a need for a local solution for sample management and temperature-controlled storage.

“Our partnership with BioStorage Technologies underscores our commitment to provide our global customers with best-in-class services throughout every facet of their early-stage drug development as well as clinical sample analysis and storage,” said Terrence Fisher, General Manager, Charles River Laboratories.

Fisher continued, “Through this agreement, which leverages BioStorage Technologies’ proven sample storage platform, we can provide our clients in China with quick access to and increased visibility into sample inventory data, as well as unsurpassed storage processes for managing their research samples.”

As a trusted partner to many of the industry’s largest biopharmaceutical companies, BioStorage Technologies manages the complete lifecycle of biological samples used in medical research.

From early-phase discovery to late-phase drug development, BioStorage Technologies is focused on reducing sample management risk and costs by providing consulting, innovative technology and flexible service model solutions.

As a global expert in sample management, BioStorage Technologies complies with regulations in North America, Europe, Asia-Pacific and many other regions.

The company adheres to GxP (GLP, GTP, GCP, GMP) compliance, has been the pioneer of Good Storage Practices (GSP) and follows all global import, export and transport guidelines such as the U.S. Department of Transportation and International Air Transport Association guidelines.
