PMC Names Daryl Pritchard as Vice President of Science Policy

The Personalized Medicine Coalition (PMC) has announced that Daryl Pritchard, Ph.D., has been named vice president of science policy. Pritchard will lead PMC efforts to develop and promote optimal science-related policies and practices to increase awareness and understanding of personalized medicine among health care providers, patients and policymakers.
In addition to helping PMC advance policies in novel clinical trial designs, health IT, federal funding for research, genetic test registries and comparative effectiveness research that promote personalized medicine, Dr. Pritchard will lead new PMC initiatives to integrate personalized medicine into health care and provide a focal point for raising awareness about developments in the field.
"With a background in genetics and schooled in public policy, Daryl is positioned well to help PMC expand its educational outreach to physicians, other providers and eventually to patients, " said Edward Abrahams, Ph.D., president of the Personalized Medicine Coalition.
Prior to joining PMC, Dr. Pritchard served as the director of policy research at the National Pharmaceutical Council (NPC), where he led NPC’s policy research efforts in the areas of personalized medicine, the heterogeneity of treatment effects, and the value of specialty biopharmaceuticals, and helped to advance NPC outreach, alliance development, and government relations.
Dr. Pritchard also served as the director of research programs advocacy and personalized medicine at the Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO), where he inaugurated the trade association’s focus on diagnostics and personalized medicine, and as the director of government affairs for the American Association for Dental Research (AADR).
Dr. Pritchard received his Ph.D. and master’s degree in genetics from The George Washington University, and completed a post-doctoral research fellowship at the Children’s National Medical Center.
He was awarded the first American Society of Human Genetics (ASHG)/National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI) Fellowship in Genetics and Public Policy, where he worked as a health legislative assistant in the House of Representatives.
