Bruker Daltonics launches the newest member of its successful ‘omics’ knowledge generation platform, the Bruker HMDB Metabolite Library for its high-performance accurate mass QTOF mass spectrometry platforms.

Developed in collaboration with the University of Alberta, Canada, the Bruker HMDB Metabolite Library is a tandem mass spectrometry accurate-mass library designed to accelerate data analysis workflows in metabolomics research. It contains manually curated MS/MS spectra to speed the high-confidence identification of metabolites in human metabolomics and clinical research.  Compounds contained in the library were selected from the Human Metabolome Data Base (HMDB - www.hmdb.ca) and include metabolites found in urine, blood, other biofluids and cell extracts. 

Dr. Liang Li, Professor of Chemistry, at the University of Alberta, explained: “As a co-PI of the Human Metabolome Database (HMDB) project, my laboratory generated the original MS/MS spectral library of about 800 human metabolites using a low-resolution triple quadrupole mass spectrometer, which has been used by many in the metabolomics field for metabolite identification.  We are delighted to have collaborated with Bruker to produce a new Human Metabolite MS/MS accurate-mass library with much improved spectral quality.  This library, along with an automated spectral acquisition and processing strategy, allows researchers to identify metabolites very quickly and with highest confidence.”
