Biogazelle Develops Lab Products Beyond Industry Standards

Bio-Rad Laboratories has recently launched a new product line that was designed in conjunction with the Belgian company Biogazelle.
The new product line consists of 20000 individual real-time PCR assays, known as PrimePCR assays, all of which have been validated beyond international lab standards by Biogazelle.
The PrimePCR assays promise to save researchers time and resources to execute laboratory experiments in which the activity of particular human genes is measured.
Their use constitutes an important step to comply with recently established standards improving the quality and reliability of such experiments.
All PrimePCR assays were validated to comply with the Minimum Information for Publication of Quantitative Real-Time PCR Experiments (MIQE) guidelines.
A multidisciplinary team of bio-informaticians, lab technicians and academic experts have been working on this prestigious project for more than a year. “We are delighted that our development pipeline leads to the expansion of Bio-Rad’s portfolio, which underscores the commercial viability and success of our RD strategy focusing on quantitative PCR (qPCR) and its applications,” said Jo Vandesompele, Chief Executive Officer at Biogazelle.
qPCR is a widely used laboratory method for molecular nucleic acids research and diagnostics.

In 2013, the human PrimePCR assays will be complemented with qPCR assays for mouse, covering nearly all protein coding genes in human and mice.
Assays targeting protein-coding genes for other genomes and assays targeting other types of genes will follow shortly.
