Scientists and officials gathered at New Haven’s Omni Hotel on June 2 for StemCONN 013, a symposium celebrating Connecticut’s successful discoveries in stem cell research.

Pictured at the event are (from left) Senator Richard Blumenthal; Valerie Horsley, professor of molecular, cellular, and development biology at Yale; Jewel Mullen, commissioner of the state’s Department of Health; and Catherine Smith, commissioner of the state’s Department of Economic and Community Development.

Governor Dannel Malloy and several Yale scientists were on the program at StemCONN 2013, including: Dr. Robert Alpern, dean of Yale School of Medicine; Jun Lu, assistant professor of genetics; and Dr. Diane Krause, professor of laboratory medicine and associate director of the Yale Stem Cell Center.
