Biofilms represent a complex multicellular sessile life-form of bacteria that are embedded in a self-produced matrix and are considered responsible for antibiotic-tolerant infections. Single endpoint analysis is not sufficient to capture the complexity of biofilms, however, orthogonal approaches that use multiple parameters are proving to be a much more valuable strategy.
