Acquity UPLC System now Supported on Applied Biosystems/MDS SCIEX’s Mass Spectrometers
Product News Jan 22, 2007
Waters Corporation has announced that it has released control software that now makes its ACQUITY UltraPerformance LC® (UPLC) System compatible with Applied Biosystems/MDS SCIEX mass spectrometry products controlled by Analyst® software.
In conjunction with Applied Biosystems/MDS SCIEX’s release of the latest update to Analyst® V1.4.2 LC/MS control software, Waters will now supply and support additional software which can provide full support for the ACQUITY UPLC Systems, including Waters nanoACQUITY UPLC System, on Applied Biosystems/MDS SCIEX’s mass spectrometry platforms.
In August of last year, Waters and Applied Biosystems/MDS SCIEX entered into an agreement for Waters to develop control software for the ACQUITY UPLC System, with support from Applied Biosystems/MDS SCIEX. The software from Waters is designed to allow scientists to combine Waters® UPLC and Applied Biosystems/MDS SCIEX MS technologies and operate them on a single data system.
According to the Company, its UPLC technology has proven to produce narrower and sharper peaks versus HPLC, higher signal-to-noise ratios, and shorter run times all of which contribute to enhance mass spectrometer performance. By combining liquid chromatography with mass spectrometry, scientists are capable of obtaining much more information from a single analysis than by either technique alone.
Waters retains responsibility for distribution and support of the ACQUITY UPLC System control software. Applied Biosystems/MDS SCIEX retains responsibility for distribution and support of Analyst® LC/MS control software.
