Hamamatsu Photonics introduce the LC-L5, a dedicated large area UV curing system, adding to our existing range of high performance LED and lamp based curing systems.

Through the use of internal forced air cooling the need for ducting or chiller equipment is eliminated and the LEDs are able to offer a high stability output, which is easily maintained over the 20,000 hour average LED lifetime.

The output is also highly uniform across the emission area enabling highly reliable curing.

The long lifetime of the LC-L5 significantly reduces the maintenance costs of operating a conventional lamp based flood curing system and there is no requirement for optical alignment during the LED operating period.

The LC-L5 is available in both 365nm and 385nm emission wavelength versions, which offer 1000mW/cm2 and 1200mW/cm2 irradiation intensities respectively.

Additionally, two emission areas of 10mm x 105mm and a very large 10mm x 305mm can be selected. The units are up to 90% smaller than conventional lamp based sources and weigh as little as 2.2kg enabling easy integration into existing systems.

At a distance of 30mm, a large area cure of 360mm x 80mm is easily achieved. Additionally, the modular design of the LC-L5 allows multiple heads to be arrayed together to enable truly large area cures.

When used for UV ink drying, the LC-L5 allows for quick and reliable curing in just a few seconds.

The LC-L5 can also be used for printed circuit board curing which reduces the risk of thermal damage to the target object, or any peripheral components, which are vulnerable to heat.

The LC-L5 is the next generation in large area flood curing and guarantee’s the best “cure” every time.
