StellarNet announces a new preconfigured optical metrology system for haze, %total transmittance, and color measurements. The StellarHaze system includes a compact fiber optic spectrometer, high intensity light source, collimating lens, and custom haze measurement sphere with diffuse transmission port and sample attachment clips. The system comes complete with StellarHaze software for MS Excel that calculates transmission and haze at once while also displaying spectral transmission curves. 

The StellarHaze System produces quantifiable metrics to determine the transparency and optical qualities of materials. Haze is a measure of the amount of light that is diffracted 2.5 degrees away from the incident beam. The haze value represents the diffusing power of the material. Some materials that need to be clear, such as windshields, have low haze values. Others materials, like LED housings, will have higher haze values to diffuse light. Haze, transmission, and color are valuable metrics for quality control in of these types of products. 

The StellarHaze system boasts portability and research grade reliability. The system can be setup in line with production to easily test batches of samples, and can be packed away in a small case when not in use. The StellarHaze is adaptable to many sample types, and there is no need for sample preparation in most situations.
