Product News May 15, 2014
HORIBA Scientific has announced that our new MicOS Microscope Optical Spectrometer was awarded “One of the Best New Instruments of the year 2013” awards at the Annual Conference of China Scientific Instruments (ACCSI 2013) in Beijing on April 18, 2014.
These annual Best New Scientific Instruments awards are presided over by 60 experts from three highly recognized Chinese associations in the field of analytical instrumentation. These include the Association of Chinese Manufacturers, The China Society of Analytical Instruments, and Instrument.com.co, which is exclusively dedicated to analytical instruments in China.
Together, these organizations evaluated over 561 instruments from 247 manufacturers. HORIBA’s Microscope Optical Spectrometer won the award with 20 other products, and was the only microspectrometer to win.
MicOS is a fully integrated and flexible microspectrometer that combines a versatile microscope head directly coupled to a three-gratings imaging spectrometer and a research grade scientific camera. The entire package is controlled by HORIBA’s LabSpec software. The MicOS is priced at a fraction of the cost of other microspectrometers.
The innovative design of the MicOS makes it compatible over a wide spectral range covering UV-Visible and NIR (200 nm to 1600 nm), allowing the characterization of different type of materials such semiconductor and biological samples. Its ingenious microscope head design includes an embedded digital imaging camera allowing direct viewing of the sample for accurate measurements.
Additionally, the user has the choice to configure MicOS either as a down-looking microspectrometer for mapping of samples, or as side-looking microspectrometer, for samples mounted inside an upright cryostat for temperature controlled measurements.
“We are very honored that our MicOS was recognized as one of the best new scientific instruments in 2013," said Eric Teboul, Director of the Optical Spectroscopy Division for HORIBA Scientific. "This recognition is a testament to the MicOS’ unique capabilities and a continuing spirit of innovation of HORIBA Scientific.”
MicOS is the perfect tool for photoluminescence, electroluminescence, and photo-reflectance measurements at the microscopic level, and is currently available.
