PerkinElmer has announced an expansion of the company’s gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (GC/MS) product line with the introduction of the Clarus® 560 S GC/MS. It is designed specifically for environmental, food, pharmaceutical and forensic laboratories to offer a GC/MS system that provide both value and high performance.

The Clarus 560 S GC/MS is an integrated solution providing users with the needed sensitivity, mass range and speed to ensure high levels of productivity and performance. Based on the Clarus MS platform, the system includes electronics, ion optics and a quick-change ion source.

In addition, it features a turbomolecular pump to achieve vacuum and reduce the downtime in laboratories where column changes are frequent.

“By combining our robust Clarus 500 GC with some of the performance features of our high-end 600 MS series, we believe the Clarus 560 S represents great value for both routine and research laboratories,” said Richard Begley, Ph.D., president, Analytical Sciences, PerkinElmer.

Begley added, “This instrument is an example of our continued commitment to bringing improvements in performance to a wider audience.”

The Clarus 560 S data handling suite includes the latest reporting capabilities with templates for the specific needs of labs conducting environmental, forensic and general chemical analyses.

For added flexibility, users have the option of integrating one of the TurboMatrix™ Headspace or Thermal Desorber sampling accessories for increased productivity and extended application capabilities.
