Rigaku Corporation has introduced the BioSAXS™-2000 system, an updated version of its popular 2D Kratky system for small angle X-ray scattering of biological samples.
The BioSAXS-2000 includes the new OptiSAXS optic, which captures a larger angle of the X-ray source to provide more than double the flux at the sample position.
With the OptiSAXS optic, users get faster data collection with higher signal-to-noise. Data collected with the BioSAXS-2000, which is presented at the 2014 American Crystallographic Association meeting in Albuquerque, shows that exposure times as low as 1-2 minutes are often sufficient to determine basic structural parameters for macromolecular samples in solution.
With the advent of fast SAXS data collection at home, automated tools for sample mounting, data collection and analysis become especially important.
The BioSAXS AUTO package accomplishes each of those tasks with the Automatic Sample Changer for automatic sample loading and data collection and the Automated Analysis Pipeline for automatic data processing and analysis.
When coupled together, the BioSAXS-2000 and BioSAXS AUTO bring a beamline experience to home laboratory SAXS experiments.
