Sophion Introduces QPatch HTX – Automated Patch Clamp System

Read time: Less than a minute
Sophion Bioscience A/S will introduce a new addition to the QPatch family at the 53rd annual meeting of the Biophysical Society in Boston . The Company’s new QPatch HTX increases the throughput and decreases the cost per data point for automated patch clamp screening.

With QPatch HTX Sophion further enables the use of giga-seal patch clamping for compound screening within ion channel drug discovery. QPatch HTX can be applied to all types of ion channels, including ligand-gated and voltage-gated channels. Data from the new system will be shown at Sophion’s QPatch User Meeting during the Biophysical Society’s conference, and more details will be provided at this time.

“An important part of Sophion’s business model has always been innovation through product development,” says Dr. Torsten Freltoft, CEO at Sophion Bioscience. “The strength of the QPatch HTX is its unsurpassed flexibility. Besides being able to run in a screening mode with higher throughput, QPatch HTX can still run all the same high quality assays as our existing systems, QPatch HT and QPatch 16.”

Sophion will have an exhibit at the Biophysical Society conference. Conference attendees may visit the Sophion booth to know more about QPatch HTX and to learn more about the QPatch and the QPatch Assay Software in general.

The company says that the QPatch HTX will be ready for shipment in Q4 2009. Upgrades of existing QPatch HT systems to QPatch HTX are available at the same time.
