Varian Debuts Quick Access™ Software for Mass Spectrometry Systems

Varian, Inc. has announced its Quick Access software. Quick Access™ is designed to enable Varian’s MS Workstation software users to increase their productivity by directing operator workflows and optimizing usage of multiple systems from a single computer.
It has been designed for use in high-throughput laboratories where routine mass spectrometry analyses are performed by non-specialists, as in the pharmaceutical and environmental testing industries.
Quick Access allows high-throughput labs to simplify and optimize the workflow for casual operators. A single, skilled MS "administrator" can set up methods and monitor analyses for dozens of users.
Through a computer interface, the software directs operators to submit their samples to the appropriate system with the shortest queue.
"Quick Access addresses productivity demands of busy MS laboratories," said Martin O’Donoghue, Senior Vice President of Scientific Instruments, Varian, Inc.
"By directing the flow of their projects, and allowing operators with limited MS experience to perform complicated analyses, Quick Access helps our customers obtain more data with fewer resources and at a lower cost."
Orders are being accepted now for the Quick Access software package with delivery scheduled to begin in July 2006.
Core to Varian, Inc.’s strategy is strengthening the company’s information rich detection (IRD) product portfolio.
Complementing that portfolio, Quick Access software is designed to enhance the capabilities of Varian’s MS systems.
