Jason Porter in an associate professor of mechanical engineering at Brigham Young University (BYU). Prior to joining BYU, he spent thirteen years as a faculty member at the Colorado School of Mines. His research focuses on developing novel optical tools to study energy conversion and storage technologies. His research has been supported by many industrial and government sponsors on topics including coal and biomass gasification, fuel cell and solar cell fabrication and operando diagnostics in batteries. He received his PhD in mechanical engineering from Stanford University.
