Florida Health Department Awards its First Marijuana Testing Lab Status

The cannabis and hemp testing company Kaycha Labs has become the first business in Florida to be awarded the state Department of Health’s certified marijuana testing laboratory (CTML) status.
The company operates two cannabis labs in Florida, based in Davie and Gainesville, which are both ISO 17025 accredited.
With the CTML status now in effect, all of the labs’ products containing cannabis will be subjected to random sampling and testing.
“Receiving the first Department of Health CMTL certification is an honor,” Chris Martinez, Kaycha Labs’ president and co-founder, said in a statement.
“We are excited to receive this distinction in our home state,” Kaycha’s chief operating officer, John Schwartz, echoed in the company statement. “Our investment in people and technology has and will continue to serve the people of Florida.”
Florida legalized medical cannabis use in March 2019. Under state regulations, medical marijuana testing labs can acquire, possess, test, transport, and lawfully dispose of medical cannabis only if licensed to do so by the state Department of Health.
In total, Kaycha Labs operates eight testing labs in seven states, including California, Colorado, Kentucky, New York, Oklahoma, and Tennessee.
