AB SCIEX, has announced the introduction of AB SCIEX SelexION™ Technology http://http://www.absciex.com/Products/Ion-Mobility-Spectrometry/AB-SCIEX-SelexION-Technology.

This novel technology delivers unprecedented performance and a new dimension of selectivity in differential ion mobility spectrometry for quantitative and qualitative analysis. SelexION technology was presented at the AB SCIEX Users Meeting and is on display all week at the American Society of Mass Spectrometry (ASMS) conference in AB SCIEX's hospitality suite in Denver.

The SelexION Technology is the first differential ion mobility separation technology that possesses day-to-day reproducibility, robustness and ease of use while delivering an additional dimension of selectivity for sensitive quantitative and qualitative analyses, within a UHPLC time scale and over multiple MRMs (multiple reaction monitoring).

AB SCIEX SelexION™ Technology significantly improves selectivity and performance for any application requiring the separation of isobaric species, isolation of challenging co-eluting contaminants and elimination of high background noise. As a result, this advancement improves data quality and accelerates sample preparation procedures.

Current approaches to optimizing selectivity are limited to the fragmentation patterns of the individual compounds and chromatographic conditions. Often these parameters do not provide enough selectivity to eliminate or separate isobaric interferences or reduce high background noise in complex samples.

To solve this challenge, AB SCIEX developed SelexION Technology, adding an additional level of selectivity which is based on the shape of the molecule. The enhanced selectivity that the AB SCIEX technology delivers could not previously be achieved for analyzing complex samples.

This new DMS technology is well suited for scientists and laboratory analysts in the pharmaceutical, contract research, food safety, environmental testing and therapeutic drug monitoring industries. These experts are challenged by assays with isobaric interferences and difficult to separate contaminants, requiring a fast, reproducible and easy to use approach to enhance the selectivity of their LC/MS/MS separations without compromising sensitivity.

DMS technology works with the following industry-leading mass spectrometers: AB SCIEX TripleQuad™ 5500 System http://http://www.absciex.com/Products/Mass-Spectrometers/Triple-Quad-Systems and AB SCIEX QTRAP® 5500 System http://http://www.absciex.com/Products/Mass-Spectrometers/QTRAP-Systems/AB-SCIEX-QTRAP-5500-LCMSMS-System.

The AB SCIEX Triple Quad 5500 System delivers the most accurate quantitative results at the industry's fastest scan speeds to identify the greatest number of target analytes at the lowest concentrations in complex samples. The AB SCIEX QTRAP 5500 System is a unique, next-generation mass spectrometer that integrates triple quadrupole capabilities with linear ion trap technology called Linear Accelerator™ Trap. This combination results in the only system on the market that seamlessly integrates industry-leading sensitivity and multiple dimensions of selectivity for both quantitative and qualitative analysis.

Rick King, Ph.D, Founder and Director, PharmaCadence Analytical Services

"AB SCIEX's differential ion mobility separation technology is a significant enhancement in selectivity for quantitative and qualitative analysis by mass spectrometry. AB SCIEX continues to build on a long tradition of providing the premier mass spectrometry tools for solving difficult analytical challenges. The implementation of DMS on the triple quadrupole and QTRAP 5500 mass spectrometers provides a new level of analytical selectivity. Anyone who needs to be absolutely confident that they are accurately and reproduciblymeasuring the correct analyte should look closely at the latest technology from AB SCIEX."

Dave Hicks, Vice President and General Manager of the Pharmaceutical and Omics Business, AB SCIEX

"With SelexION Technology, we have broken the barrier to greater selectivity, reproducibility, and robustness by pushing the limits of what is achievable with mass spectrometry across a variety of applications. We are putting greater 'separation power' into the hands of scientists and lab analysts to separate and quantitate molecules without compromising speed or sensitivity."
