Agilent Technologies Inc. has announced that it has added optimized target deconvolution capabilities to its powerful MassHunter Workstation Software. MassHunter Quantitative Analysis software with Target Deconvolution enables users to effectively remove background matrix ions from data and easily produce targeted quantitative and qualitative results from complex samples. The new feature is included in Mass Hunter Quantitative Analysis software version B.06.00 and above.
Target deconvolution is a powerful analytical process used for the identification and quantitation of small-molecule targets in complex samples. This process is commonly used in pesticide analysis of food products, analysis of controlled substances in biological samples, and environmental pollutants in complex soil or wastewater.
"All applications-environmental, food safety, materials analysis, metabolomics-of scan mode GC/MS are challenged by samples with increasingly complex matrices," said Terry Sheehan, Ph.D., Agilent's marketing manager of GC/MS products. "MassHunter's new target deconvolution greatly enhances the probability of extracting acceptable spectral information from these complex separations."
Compared with Agilent's ChemStation deconvolution reporting software, MassHunter target deconvolution software is easier to use, more sensitive, selects optimum settings for each identified component peak, and enables superior target matches.
Reporting only the component spectrum that best matches target reference spectrum, it features interactive data review, outlier flagging capabilities, RT-locked target MS library matching, and rapid PDF-reporting of individual samples or an entire batch.
MassHunter software is used in combination with Agilent LC/MS, GC/MS and ICP-MS instruments. It provides intuitive instrument control, sophisticated data acquisition, processing, and reporting capabilities to maximize insight and enable discovery.
The upgrade is available at no cost to existing MassHunter users who have software maintenance contracts.
