Bioo Scientific Develops a Rapid Detection Kit for Benzo[a]pyrene (BaP) Screening in Instant Noodles

Read time: Less than a minute

This protocol was developed in response to recent recalls of instant noodle products that were found to be adulterated with BaP. BaP is a polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon (PAH) that is listed as a Group 1 carcinogen by the International Agency for Research on Cancer, an intergovernmental agency part of the World Health Organization. The compound can be generated by the incomplete combustion of oil at high temperatures and can be found in fried, barbecued, smoked and overcooked food.

The MaxSignal BaP ELISA Kit offers high recovery rates, sensitive detection limits and a unique proprietary extraction protocol that greatly reduces the cost and time required for BaP analysis. It also offers detection limits of 2.5 parts per billion for instant noodles and its seasoning components. This is well within the EU limit of 5 parts per billion. This kit is ideal for customers who screen samples to ensure that their instant noodle products are free of BaP contamination.
